MELBOURNE, Australia -- Timezone Australia launched its flagship store in Melbourne's Northland shopping center late in September.

The first Timezone store was launched in Perth, Australia more than three decades ago by parent company Leisure and Allied Industries; the new one is the chain's 19th in Australia. Timezone now is active throughout the Australasian region.

The two-day housewarming festivities were marked by competitive play and abundant prizes and promotional discounts. The company reports that many parents among the visitors fondly recalled patronizing Timezone stores elsewhere in Australia when they were children, and are glad to have the opportunity of bringing their own youngsters to the new facility in Melbourne.

Timezone also reported opening its 50th store in the Republic of the Philippines. It's located in the SM Storyland amusement park in the huge SM Iloilo mall in Iloilo City on Panay Island in the Visayas. The new Timezone store features the latest hit games and the Embed Powercard POS system.

Timezone now runs 214 family entertainment centers in Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.
