HUDSON, WI -- Three Square Market (32M) says it will be the first micromarket manufacturer to provide consumers with nutrition information on self-checkout kiosks. Onscreen nutritional information will be a seamless upgrade for all operators globally, 32M boasted. The feature will go live on existing micromarkets this week; all new markets from now on will automatically display nutrition data.

"Now that vending machines require nutrition information to be viewable, we felt it was time to apply technology to be ahead of the regulatory curve and show all nutrition information right on the kiosk for any product," said 32M chief operating officer Patrick McMullan.

The nutrition display feature will also be used in 32M's inmate commissary business. Three Square is a subsidiary of TW Cos., which owns corrections technology leader TurnKey Corrections and TurnKey Correctional Supply.

Three Square president Curt Giles emphasized that vending operators will have to do nothing for the nutrition information to appear on their kiosks. Their customers will be able to view it with the scan of each product.

The micromarket company doubled in size in 2016. It launched a fixture division and a full-service warehouse that supplies operators with everything that goes into a self-checkout store -- things like coolers, fixtures, display racks, beverages and dry goods.

"We are a one-stop shop where an operator could literally be virtual," Giles said. "They would have no overhead whatsoever."

Three Square Market operates in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Saudi Arabia, Australia and New Zealand. It manufactures kiosks and fixtures at its Hudson, WI, headquarters. TKC and 32M will be moving into a state-of-the art facility in River Falls, WI, this month.
