Lofton L. Little, Schott Little obituary, L.C. Vending Co. SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Lofton L. (Schott) Little, who founded L.C. Vending Co. here more than 50 years ago, died on Sept. 14. He was 106.

Born in Junction, TX, on June 10, 1910 to Floyd and Nina Little, the future vending pioneer was raised on a sheep and goat ranch near his birth town. He moved to San Antonio in 1929 to attend Drawns Business College.

Little worked as a branch manager for snack giant Lance Inc. (Charlotte, NC) for 12 years before starting his vending machine operation in 1953. L.C. Vending remains a family business today, managed by his son, daughter and grandson.

An early believer in industry advocacy, Little was a past-president of the Texas Merchandise Vending Association and past-president of the San Antonio Manufacturer's Association. For several years he served on the board of directors of Rudd-Melikian Inc. (Warminster, PA), an early innovator of fresh-brew and other single-cup coffee machines.

Little was one of the early members of St. David's Episcopal Church, and served as a member of the vestry for a number of years. He also was a member of the Optimist Club, 20-30 Club and the Cosmopolitan Club.

He is survived by his son Ladd and daughter Lynne Little Banks; grandchildren Tracy Dickens and husband Kelly, Ashley Long and husband David and Egan Little and wife Amy; and nieces Jeanette Lawrence and Jean Webber. His wife Helen preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough. The funeral service will held in the chapel at 10 a.m. and internment will follow in Mission Burial Park North.
