ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — Stern Pinball has announced the availability of Black Knight: Sword of Rage, its latest line of flipper games that combine cutting-edge technology with classic features and gameplay.

Sword of Rage is the third flipper game in the Black Knight franchise, and the first that allows players to discover, unlock and explore the grim secrets of the bleak Black Knight universe. It's available in Pro, Premium and Limited Edition models.

Stern noted that the new game has been four decades in the making. The first and second Black Knight flipper games were produced by Williams in 1980 and 2000.

"There's nothing more iconic in the pinball universe than the Black Knight character," said Gary Stern, chairman and chief executive of Stern Pinball. "Created by game designer Steve 'The King' Ritchie, the Black Knight has always taunted and antagonized players to battle him and now, for the first time, players will be able to fight back."

Stern's Black Knight: Sword of Rage Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition models feature distinctive hand-drawn art in homage to this pinball icon. Each game features a custom-sculpted, interactive and multi-functional Black Knight bash toy. It's armed with a bi-directional motorized flail and armored in a glowing RGB helmet with individually controllable expressive lighting that enhances the menace as it taunts players with custom speech. Its coil-driven sliding shield can deflect the player's shots.

All models include the distinctive "Magna-Save" player-controlled magnet used to prevent a ball from draining (a respectful nod to the 1980 Williams game), and timed resetting drop targets. In addition, Black Knight: Sword of Rage features a legacy sound package composed and performed by Scott Ian of Anthrax with Brendon Small, "adrenalizing" the audio experience for players on their journey, and custom speech by Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies.

The Premium and Limited Edition models both incorporate a transparent upper playfield with a distinct 3-ball lock mechanism, giving players the ability to achieve a 6-ball multiball. The Limited Edition – only 600 units – includes additional unique features such as an exclusive mirrored backglass, anti-reflection playfieldglass, a shaker motor, custom art blades, a custom autographed bottom arch, a sequentially numbered plaque, and exclusive custom-themed "battle art" cabinet artwork.

Complementing the immersive theme and exciting gameplay experience, Stern Pinball's powerful Spike electronics hardware system enables high-definition graphics and innovative animations on the high-definition video display. Spike reduces system complexity and energy consumption, resulting in enhanced reliability and simplified servicing. The state-of-the-art electronic system also powers a high-fidelity three-channel audio system said to be three times more powerful than the sound systems of previous generations.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price for sales to USA end-users, before any VAT, GST, sales tax, duties, or other charges is $5,999 (U.S.) for the Pro model, $7,599 for the Premium version and $8,999 for the Limited Edition variant. The game is available through authorized Stern Pinball distributors and dealers around the world.
