Skee-Ball Amusement Games is expanding its redemption offerings for arcades and FECs with its first title in the quick-coin category. Super 21 challenges players to accurately time the drop of coins or tokens onto a rotating playfield consisting of 52 slots, each representing one of the cards in a standard playing deck.

According to the gameplay rules, which are similar to blackjack, players can drop as many coins as they desire without going over 21. The closer to 21 a player reaches, the more tickets he or she wins. A player wins the progressive jackpot by arriving at 21 with two cards.

Players can end Super 21 play anytime and cash out their tickets. If a player's cards total more than 21, however, the round ends and he or she will receive "mercy" tickets.

"This is a 100% skill game in which you use a coin or a token to play 21," explained Skee-Ball president Jeff Hudson. "The main appeal of Super 21 is that it's easy to understand and a player's skill level determines how many tickets are won."

The unit, which measures 81" high by 44" wide by 49" deep, is outfitted with a full complement of programmable features; operators can set ticket payout, playfield wheel speed, volume control and attract mode.

Super 21 also is equipped with a 17" flat-screen monitor, located above and behind the circular playfield, that displays cards and totals during gameplay. It is topped off with an attractive marquee and includes brilliant lighting and a jackpot bell to help simulate the feel of a casino.

Hudson reports that Skee-Ball's initial production run of Super 21 has already sold out. Orders are being taken now for early June shipments.

Skee-Ball is headquartered in Chalfont, PA, and is online at In addition to developing and marketing redemption and novelty games, the company continues to build the enduring game that bears its name. Skeeball, which was invented in Philadelphia, celebrates its 100-year anniversary this year. Information on Super 21 can be had by calling (215) 997-8900.
