TORRANCE, CA - (posted Feb. 21) Rock-Ola Manufacturing Corp. announces the arrival of "Digital SyberSonics," an extensive upgrade to the company's internal hardware and software that modernizes yet simplifies the system. "DSS" ships with new RMC jukeboxes this spring beginning with the new "Vivo" wall box and other models. "DSS" is described by company officials as "the most significant upgrade to [our] core SyberSonics Electronics technology since the system was first unveiled in 1996." "DSS" replaces dozens of older internal circuits with advanced digital processors. In addition, three previously separate components -- a digital audio pre-amplifier, a digital power amplifier, and the power supply -- have been integrated into a single module. As with the original "SyberSonics Electronics System," the new "DSS" connects to the keypad and central computer with simple telephone cords and plug-in jacks. RMC said "Digital SyberSonics" enables jukeboxes to play music with noticeably increased power, fidelity, and clarity. The new technology also provides operators with many new tools for sound system management, allowing independent control settings for multiple channels including graphic equalizer, tone, volume, and microphone paging. Officials noted that the integrated power/amp unit employs far fewer internal components than its predecessor. The unit is lighter and approximately 50% smaller, while providing 50% more power to the jukebox. Digital SyberSonics can convert 450 watts of peak music power into 4 ohms with 95% efficiency. Officials also said an array of built-in fail-safe systems means "no wasted energy -- no heat build-up or blown fuses, even at high volume -- and significantly fewer associated service calls." RMC is expected to introduce additional products featuring "DSS" at this month's Amusement Showcase International. More information about "DSS" will appear in the next print edition of VENDING TIMES.
