PHILADELPHIA -- AMI Entertainment Network tallied and released its yearend jukebox music charts on Dec. 2. The annual list charts the most-played artists, songs and music videos on AMI's jukebox network in 2016. AMI reported that millions of songs in tens of thousands of locations in the U.S. and Canada were played on its boxes, so its 2016 chart data represent a broad cross-section of popular music among bar and restaurant patrons.

This year, Rihanna, Drake and The Chainsmokers made a huge splash with each having two hits featured in AMI's Top 10 New Songs list. Other popular artists in the new music category were Maren Morris, Desiigner, Lukas Graham and Florida Georgia Line.

In AMI's music video category, the chart is topped by Kevin Gates' "Really, Really," Luke Bryan's "Huntin', Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day" and Desiigner's "Panda." AMI introduced its music video programing about two years ago, and it has proven to be the top upsell feature on its jukeboxes. The NGX Ultra is the company's newest jukebox that's optimized for music video.

Rock and roll again was the most popular jukebox music genre, accounting for 37% of all plays in 2016, the same as in the previous year. AC/DC was the most-played jukebox rock artist, followed by Guns N' Roses and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

While rock was the most popular genre, country artists dominated AMI's Top Played lists. Across the AMI jukebox network, Eric Church holds the title of most-played artist, and Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey" was the most-played song.
