MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- Formal planning now is under way for the 2011 Atlantic Coast Exposition. It's scheduled for the Embassy Suites at Kingston Plantation hotel here from Oct. 20 to 22 (Thursday through Saturday).

Now in its 57th year, ACE -- originally the Carolinas Vending Convention -- is cosponsored by the North Carolina Vending Association, South Carolina Vending Association and Virginia Automatic Merchandising Association. This year's expo is managed by TayCar Inc. (Cary, NC).

On Thursday, Oct. 20, registration will open at noon at close at 3:30 p.m. The ACE Convention Committee plans to meet from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the three sponsoring associations will conduct board meetings immediately thereafter.

On Friday, registration reopens at 7:30 a.m. and is available until 5 p.m. The educational program gets under way at 8 a.m. with an all-day maintenance training course, focusing on troubleshooting and problem solving for vending equipment and payment systems.

Four business sessions are planned. The first two will run concurrently from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; two more will follow, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The exhibit opens at 1 p.m. and closes at 7 p.m.; a welcome event is scheduled for the exhibit area at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday's agenda leads off with the traditional awards presentation starting at 8 a.m., and an address by a keynote speaker who will be announced soon. Registration reopens at the same time. Exhibit hours on Saturday are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The eagerly anticipated volleyball tournament is set for 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and a hard-fought contest among champions from the three sponsoring associations is in prospect. A poolside finale event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. will climax the 2011 festivities.

The Atlantic Coast Exposition serves as a showcase for some 150 manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, distributors and brokers who support vending, foodservice and office refreshment operations. It attracts attendance from all parts of the United States and a number of foreign countries. Online registration is available at
