MENOMONEE FALLS, WI -- Pioneer Sales & Service Inc. held a pool cloth recovery class at its headquarters here, led by Championship Billiards. More than 40 amusements professionals representing over 20 operating companies attended.

Championship Billiards (Bensenville, IL) provides billiard fabrics, table covers, cushion rubber, component parts and accessories. Fred Cohen, the company's president, led off with an overview of Championship Billiards' felt production methods, and on the characteristics and performance of each of its products. He explained how Championship produces its cushion rubber, and why it is able to back it with a lifetime warranty.

Next, Championship Billiards vice-president Mike Serra provided overviews of the company's other products, and presented achievement certificates to each participant, as well as toolboxes containing more than $400 worth of supplies for Pioneer Sales & Services' new certified installers.

The hands-on portion of the course was led by pro installer John Beecher in Pioneer's shop area. He demonstrated several tricks of the trade for applying three types of Championship cloth: Mercury-backed, Valley Teflon unbacked, and a Worsted material that must be stretched more than 14" farther than regular felt.  Beecher also demonstrated how to re-cover table rails, including forming the side pocket corners perfectly.

Valley sales manager Mick White was on hand to answer questions pertaining to the company's pool tables.

"I truly thank Fred, Mike and John for their time and skill to help us all improve earnings and promote quality pool play," said Pioneer Sales & Service owner Jonathan Kleiman.

Pioneer Sales & Service has been a wholesale distributor of amusement games, vending machines, ATMs and jukeboxes serving the state of Wisconsin and upper Michigan since 1962.

LOCATION PLEASER: Good service and maintenance is a key to retaining pool locations, and Pioneer Sales & Service recently hosted a Championship Billiards training session on recovering tables.
