LAS VEGAS -- Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich will deliver the keynote address at the National Automatic Merchandising Association's annual general session and membership meeting at the 2013 OneShow convention and trade show. The annual meeting is set for 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the Sands Expo Center here.

Famous as a leading proponent of the "Contract with America" that summarized the Republican position during the 1994 Congressional election, Gingrich was elected Speaker of the House in that same year. Under his leadership, Congress passed welfare reform, passed the first balanced budget in a generation, and enacted the first tax cut in 16 years. It also restored funding to bolster defense and intelligence capabilities.

Speaker Gingrich also has published 23 books including 13 fiction and nonfiction titles that have been ranked in The New York Times listing of best sellers. Gingrich and his wife, Callista, also host and produce documentaries, and are frequent guests on network and cable television news programs.

NAMA noted that Gingrich has become one of the nation's most sought-after public speakers, accepting engagements from some of the world's most prestigious organizations.

"We are delighted to welcome Speaker Gingrich, whose keynote address will anchor the NAMA Annual Meeting," said OneShow senior director LyNae Schleyer.

Other highlights of the general assembly and annual meeting will be the delivery of remarks by board chairman Mark B. Dieffenbach, Hershey Co., and the eagerly anticipated NAMA Industry Awards presentation.

NAMA senior vice-president of government affairs Eric Dell is facilitating the preparation for Gingrich's OneShow discussion by sharing some of the industry's key business and political issues and concerns that will serve as the foundation for the keynote speaker's remarks.

"We are certain NAMA members will find Speaker Gingrich's participation particularly valuable, given his unique and comprehensive view of the American landscape," Schleyer summarized. "From healthcare to business overall to the current administration, we're preparing for our members to learn something actionable and enjoy hearing his commentary."

NAMA's OneShow will be held from April 24 through 26 at the Venetian Hotel and its adjacent Sands Convention Center. This year's event is the 68th staging of the largest trade show for the vending and refreshment services industry. The show is expected to draw 200 exhibitors and more than 4,500 vending industry members.
