Keurig Bolt coffee brewer WATERBURY, VT -- Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. has taken the wraps off its commercial-grade brewer system. The Keurig Bolt uses a larger portion-pack than the standard K-Cup or Vue cartridge to brew a 64-fl.oz. pot of coffee in approximately two minutes.

Green Mountain said the primary target channel for the Keurig Bolt system is medium to large offices that prefer to serve coffee in volume and seek a premium, convenient brewing experience. In addition, the new brewer is well suited to limited service restaurants and convenience stores, as well as colleges and universities and hotel and hospitality facilities.

The Waterbury, VT, roaster said it will launch an in-office test of the Keurig Bolt with select customers in the U.S. this month. The brewer and its proprietary Keurig Bolt packs will be available throughout the U.S. and Canada through various Keurig-authorized distributors beginning in late fall 2013.

The Keurig Bolt's two-minute brew time is half that of most 120V. commercial office coffee brewers, according to Green Mountain. Its thermal carafe maintains the ideal combination of taste, freshness and temperature for up to two hours.

The plumbed system with programmable color touchscreen features auto on/off, temperature control between 187°F. and 197°F., and language selection (English/French/Spanish). It's UL-listed for commercial use and National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) certified for foodservice environments.

Each Keurig Bolt pack contains the right amount of coffee needed to brew a half-gallon pot of coffee and is sealed for freshness. They're available in a mix of Green Mountain's most popular offerings, including Green Mountain Coffee; The Original Donut Shop; Timothy's World Coffee; Tully's; and Van Houtte coffees.

The Keurig Bolt packs' plastic cups are made from polypropylene/#5 plastic, and can be separated from the lid and filter and recycled wherever polypropylene/#5 plastics are accepted.

"Keurig Bolt is a revolutionary step in our journey of bringing Keurig simplicity, quality and convenience to new away-from-home applications," said Brian P. Kelley, president and chief executive of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. "While driving Keurig single-serve adoption both in- and away-from-home remains a significant opportunity and priority, we recognize there are away-from-home consumption occasions where brewing in volume is preferred."

Michelle Stacy, president of Green Mountain's U.S. commercial business, said the company also sees an opportunity for both Keurig Bolt and single-cup Keurig brewers in the same office, to meet beverage needs in different areas and during varying dayparts.
