MOORESTOWN, NJ -- New Jersey Congressman Tom MacArthur (R-NJ) visited Midlantic Vending/Jack & Jill here in early May. The Republican met with Midlantic president Ken Schwartz, vice-president Alan Drazen and employees to get a firsthand view at a vending operation that specializes in ice cream.

The congressman addressed questions related to the FDA's calorie-disclosure rules, and the EPA's proposed changes to refrigeration standards in vending machines, coolers and freezers.

MacArthur, who represents New Jersey's third district, said the visit confirmed his belief that hardworking businesspeople continue to strengthen the economy and workforce by expanding opportunity and creating jobs. "I applaud Jack & Jill on their entrepreneurial spirit and their support of the competitive, free enterprise system," he said.

NAMA senior vice-president of government affairs Eric Dell described MacArthur as a strong supporter of small business and reasonable government regulation. "As a first-term member of Congress, this visit allowed us to identify industry-specific issues and introduce him to industry leaders in his district," he said.

Midlantic's Schwartz added: "We have been looking forward to this opportunity to show him our commitment to our customers and employees, and the impact our business and fellow industry businesses have on the state of New Jersey and the Congressman's district."

Founded in 1929, Jack & Jill Ice Cream Co. established a vending machine division shortly before World War II began.
