New Facial-Detection Technology Enables Adaptive Advertising In Vending Machines

NEW YORK CITY -- A new facial-detection technology can turn a basic camera into an intelligent sensor that captures real-time analytics. CARA from Digital Touch Systems can be installed in vending machines, doorway entrances, cash registers and other retail points of sale.

CARA detects and gathers such real-time anonymous consumer data as gender, age, attention time and even emotions. It detects real-world variables in real time to measure customer engagement and dwell time, in vending machines or brick-and-mortar stores.

The technology does not record actual customer images, ensuring privacy as information is being gathered. CARA software also offers developers options to turn any existing content into a tool that reacts to audiences in real time.

The technology is a pay-as-you-go service and is compatible with several different platforms, including desktop Windows7/Windows8, Android and Linux. Compatibility with iOS devices is coming soon.
