SAN DIEGO, CA -- Smart beacon technology provider Netclearance has introduced the mBeaconVend, which offers mobile-agnostic beacon technology while enabling vending machines to accept payments from a smartphone mobile wallet.

The mBeaconVend is based on Netclearance's mBeaconPay mobile payment solution. Using a customized mobile app, customers can simply wave their mobile devices near the smart beacon to be shown the purchase amount, before confirming the payment onscreen. And the smart beacon supports a range of mobile phone platforms.

According to the manufacturer, the mBeaconVend is cost-effective because it integrates with existing vending machine multi-drop bus (MDB) technology. It's also compatible with popular beacon profiles including iBeacon and Eddystone, which opens up a wide range of mobile app interactions and avenues for proximity advertising.

Netclearance chief executive David Fernandez noted that consumer enthusiasm for making vending purchases with cashless media is moving the vending industry away from coins and banknotes, enabling customers to pay by their preferred method -- and mobile payment is a fast-growing force in the cashless arena.

The mBeaconVend joins Netclearance's array of "Internet of Things" gateways, including the five-sensor mBeaconSense, the mBeaconCard smart badge and mBeaconPay, which is paving the way for mobile payments in Scandinavia. All Netclearance solutions make use of low-power wireless technology and are supported by open server APIs, mobile SDKs and analytics capabilities.

Based in California, Netclearance maintains European offices in England, and works with authorized reseller partners around the globe.
