WASHINGTON, DC — The National Confectioners Association has honored Tony Jacobs as advocate of the year. Jacobs, who is president and general manager of Global Confections for Bazooka Candy Brands division of The Topps Co. (New York City), received the award at NCA's 2018 State of the Industry Conference in Miami, FL early this month.

The advocacy award celebrates a member of the chocolate and candy industry who has demonstrated unparalleled commitment to, and leadership in, advocacy.

"Tony understands policy, politics and the importance of having strong relationships with our elected leaders," commented John Downs, NCA president and chief executive officer. "His efforts leading our CandyPAC have resulted in it being one of the largest among all trade associations.

Jacobs currently chairs the association's political action committee. In this post, he  has led an industry-wide effort to build its stature and reputation.

In addition to his work with the CandyPAC, Jacobs is a frequent Washington Forum participant. He also has attended NCA's Pennsylvania Advocacy Day, helping to prevent a candy tax from being introduced in the state.

NCA's Advocate of the Year Award was established in 2012.
