The Amusement and Music Operators Association-National Darts Association has approved Gaelco Darts (Barcelona, Spain) as a manufacturer sponsor. The determination was made at the association's annual board meeting late in January.

NDA manufacturer sponsors include Arachnid Inc. (Loves Park, IL), Cyberdine d.o.o. (Zagreb, Croatia), Medalist Marketing Corp. (Pacific, WA), NSM-Löwen Entertainment (Bingen am Rhein, Germany) and Shelti Inc. (Bay City, MI). The association believes that the addition of Gaelco will enhance the ongoing success of NDA and complement its list of sponsors.

Gaelco has 25 years' experience in manufacturing coin-operated equipment, winning a reputation for innovation by incorporating the latest technology into its games. The new Radikal Darts board provides such advanced features as a laser rangefinder, as well as cameras, wide-area network connectivity and a Remote Arbitration System for refereeing. This technology allows a player to compete against opponents located anywhere in the world.

NDA reports that, since introducing Radikal Darts, Gaelco has enjoyed dramatic growth in the number of games sold and players registered. Gaelco dart games are installed in many European and Asian nations, and the company presently has more than 200,000 registered players.

As the governing body for soft-tip electronic darting, NDA establishes rules of play and sanctions players; it also represents coin machine operators who organize and administer dart leagues. In both roles, it benefits from having all the industry's major dart manufacturers as part of the association.

"This is a great partnership for the NDA," said Chris Warren, Century Gaming (Helena, MT), newly elected president of the NDA board. "Gaelco Darts' approval brings added value to membership in the NDA, and we hope it will increase NDA league systems and interest in the sport of electronic darts worldwide."

Based in Indianapolis, NDA was formed by and for coin machine operators to promote the sport of electronic darting exclusively on operator-owned equipment. It currently represents some 300 members and 250,000 players around the world. Information may be found at ndadarts.com.

The dart association is holding its 25th anniversary international players tournament at from April 16 to 24 at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Team Dart XXV is expected to match last year's event, which drew about 10,000 players from seven countries.
