COCKEYSVILLE, MD -- A&A Global Industries and the National Bulk Vendors Association have announced the formation of the Irvin Kovens Scholarship in honor of A&A's founder, who died in 1998. The scholarship, initiated with a donation from A&A, replaces NBVA's previous scholarship program, which was funded by the association for many years.

NBVA said the Irvin Kovens Scholarship will enable the trade group to provide financial awards to qualifying students far into the future.

Working out of his home to market stamp vending machines, Irvin Kovens in 1938 founded Parkway Machine Corp., A&A Global's antecedent. As business prospered, his company branched out into bulk vending and other areas. A forward thinker, Kovens is credited with seeing the potential of the vending industry through quality products.

Today, Maryland-based A&A is one of the world's largest product suppliers in the bulk vending sector. Irvin's grandsons, Brian and Steve Kovens, manage it, and they have introduced new lines to complement the bulk vending division. These include amusement redemption merchandise and Koko's Confection Novelty, a retail candy division. A&A also runs a plastic injection molding and powder-coating factory, which produces capsules for vendable toys and finishes components for vending machines.

"My grandfather was a huge mentor to both me and Brian," said Steve Kovens. "He was passionate about growing the business, the industry and the NBVA."

Founded in 1950, NBVA maintains an office at 1202 E. Maryland Ave. Ste. 1K, Phoenix, AZ, 85014. To learn about NBVA's new scholarship program, call (888) NBVA-USA.
