NAPERVILLE, IL – The Naperville Police Department has arrested three suspects for continuing a financial crimes enterprise, Class 1 felony, stemming from a four-month investigation into the use of ATM skimming devices.

Arrested, all from Illinois were Alin Doina, 48, Elk Grove Village; Dorin Marchidan, 47, Glenview; and Adrian Popa, 43, Glenview. According to local authorities, the alleged bandits made off with an estimated $25,000 through skimming devices placed on ATMs throughout the Chicago suburbs.

Skimming devices, such as those used in the Naperville case, allow criminals to capture credit and debit card data, including PIN codes. That data is then either sold on the Internet or transferred by the thieves onto a blank card to make cash withdrawals.
