NAVARRA, Spain - Spain's Azkoyen Group has earned National Automatic Merchandising Association certification for the vending machine models it currently markets in the United States.

They are the Vitro S5, Vitale, Zen, Zintro and Zensia. The certification is based on the 2013 U.S. Food & Drug Administration Food Code.

All the hot beverage machines manufactured by Azkoyen have been evaluated according to the construction standards and public health codes recommended by the United States Vending Industry and Health Council. To earn the NAMA certification, the materials, design, construction and performance of the vending machines were analyzed, taking into account environmental temperature studies, principles of sound engineering and research on test records and field work, among other aspects.

Manufacturers, rebuilders and suppliers of vending machine equipment, coffee machines and refrigerators choose to be evaluated for NAMA certification to demonstrate that their equipment complies with internationally recognized U.S. public health standards.

Azkoyen, which also makes snack, cold drink and cigarette vending machines, expanded into the U.S. market in February, when it established its Azkoyen USA Inc. subsidiary, headquartered in Charlotte, NC.

Grupo Azkoyen S.A., headquartered in Navarra, Spain, consists of three main business units: Vending Systems, under the brands Azkoyen and Coffetek; Payment Technologies, under the brands Coges, Azkoyen Payment Technologies and Cashlogy and Security; and Access Control Systems under the brands Primion, GET and Digitek.
