JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The National ATM Council Inc. is running a petition drive that is requesting Visa's authorization of dynamic currency conversion at ATMs operating in the United States.

“The U.S. ATM industry and the millions of consumers we serve daily will greatly benefit from Visa allowing DCC to be available at ATMs in America on an expedited basis,” said NAC executive director Bruce Renard. “Our industry anticipates and appreciates Visa's prompt and positive consideration of this important and sensitive industry request."

DCC allows consumers to complete cash withdrawals in their own and familiar currencies. Consumer preference for DCC is evidenced by the current widespread usage of DCC on the part of international MasterCard cardholders at ATMs throughout the U.S., according to NAC. While Visa supports DCC at ATMs in other countries, it does not offer the benefit to international Visa cardholders who use ATMs in the U.S.

To encourage Visa to extend this service to U.S. markets, NAC is encouraging ATM industry participants to sign its petition electronically. The drive will run through Nov. 1, after which the petition and signatures will be formally transmitted to Visa for responsive action.
