BLOOMINGTON, MN - The Minnesota Operators of Music and Amusements held its annual summer conference from June 3 through 6, at Sugar Lake Lodge (Grand Rapids, MN). MOMA executive director Linda Winstead reports that the conference was well-attended by operators from Minnesota as well as North and South Dakota.

Amusement and Music Operators Association president-elect Emily Dunn, Tom's Amusement Co. (Marietta, GA), was an honored guest, and the manufacturing segment was strongly represented.

Getting down to business, the pool and dart league coordinators of MOMA's member companies met to discuss the most recent tournament and to prepare for the next one, which is set for January 2020 at Mayo Civic Center (Rochester, MN).

Conference participants enjoyed a variety of recreational activities, including a golf tournament in memory of Ron Reinking and a fishing contest in memory of Wayne Vaverek. Winners of the golf tournament were Bob Thomas, Liberty Coin (Virginia, MN); Terry O'Hara, Midwest Coin Concepts (Waite Park, MN); Bryan Aune, AMI Entertainment Network; and Mike Hawkins, D&R Star (Rochester, MN). Thomas also won the fishing contest.

Guests had the opportunity to take part in a medallion hunt, with clues to the location of the medallion given periodically. The Zasmeta children from Hazelwood Corp. (Aitkin, MN) and the Graham children from Games Unlimited (Fergus Falls, MN) pieced the puzzle together and found the prize.

At the membership meeting held during the conference, MOMA members elected officers for 2020. Andrew Schmitz, Superior Vending (Vadnais Heights, MN), is chosen president; he succeeds Shawn Dean, Dean Vending (Minneapolis, MN), who becomes immediate past-president. Terry O'Hara, Midwest Coin Concepts (Waite Park, MN), is elected vice-president. Chosen secretary is Randy Baird, Northern Amusement (Bemidji, MN), and Bob Thomas is elected treasurer. Brian Baumann of AVS Cos. (Bloomington, MN) was elected to the Board.

The Minnesota Operators of Music and Amusements is dedicated to bringing together people in the coin- and currency-activated amusement industry for mutual social and business interests. One of the association's principal services is its sponsorship of statewide Pool League and Dart League associations. Thousands of individuals and teams from throughout the state compete weekly in leagues organized and promoted by MOMA members.
