CHICAGO -- MB Media Brokers plans to introduce the production version of its retrofittable electronic sign this week at the National Automatic Merchandising Association's OneShow exhibit in Chicago. Designed for easy installation inside the door of a glassfront vender, the low-cost, high-impact LED raster display can be programmed remotely over a wireless network.

Conceived by former vending operator David Levine, the LED sign has undergone extensive field-testing over the past several years. Levine reports that those trials have demonstrated the sign's ability to increase the sale of individual items in the host machine by an average 31%. When installed in banked machines, the sign has boosted sales across the entire vender battery by an average 9.5% in "closed" locations, and by over 20% in public sites.

Unlike smaller, more costly flat-panel LCD displays, MB Media's door-width sign not only calls attention to the machine, but also is legible at considerable distances, attracting the attention of passersby.

Levine observed that spending $4,000 on a new snack machine will return an average $13,000 annually. But spending $4,000 on MB Media signs (they cost $229 apiece, with a $10 monthly service fee) can generate an annual return of almost $22,000 through increased sales activity in existing venders.

The MB Media LED sign, which is being honored with a NAMA Innovation Award at the show (Read more about the iSpot awards), will be on display in booth No. 2147. Information also may be had from the manufacturer at 4125 E. Nighthawk Way, Phoenix, AZ 85048, tel. (480) 332-0844.
