SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA -- Maxon Lift Corp. and Purkeys Fleet Electric have formalized a decade-long informal relationship by inking a strategic partnership agreement.

Maxon stated that both companies are leaders in their respective areas. California-based Maxon claims to be the largest single-brand manufacturer of liftgates in the world, and Arkansas-based Purkeys Fleet Electric is an industry expert in the electrical needs of national fleets.

The goal of this partnership is to combine the industry experience of both companies to provide the best product available: "the correct liftgate for our customer's application and the best electrical system to keep the liftgate, along with other truck and trailer attachments, running and on the road," Maxon explained.

For example, battery-charging issues have always been a central concern for fleet managers. This concern has been heightened by new idling laws that put additional constraints on recharging times for batteries, Maxon continued, while a widening array of attachments and tools on trucks and trailers all need electric power. Its partnership with Purkeys, Maxon predicted, will help resolve issues at the point of sale regarding the electrical requirements of the liftgate and the total battery-charging capacity. The resulting body of knowledge will be incorporated in future Maxon liftgate designs.

Purkey has conducted electrical training for both large and small fleets, and has developed testing tools, procedures and products to make working on electrical systems for fleets, tractors and trailers easier and a more exact science.

Purkeys Fleet Electric owner Bruce Purkey is well known as a transport industry expert. He is active in the Technology & Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Association (Arlington, VA). With more than 32 years of experience, he is known as TMC's "Doctor Electricity," and is a Silver Spark Plug recipient.
