ST. MICHAELS, MD -- The Maryland/DC Vending Association, a state council of the National Automatic Vending Association, will hold its annual membership meeting and golf outing June 2 and 3. It is scheduled for the Harbourtowne Golf Resort, located in historic St. Michaels, MD, at the crossroads of the Chesapeake Bay and the Miles River.

Meeting highlights will include an overview of the issues facing operators in Maryland and Washington, DC, and a presentation by National Automatic Vending Association senior vice-president of government affairs Ned Monroe on the 2011 political climate and federal legislation affecting the vending and coffee service industries, including healthcare legislation, calorie disclosure requirements, ADA machine accessibility issues and changes to coin and currency.

Social events include the annual golf tournament, a Texas Hold 'Em tournament to benefit the association's scholarship fund and a lively dinner reception.

During the meeting, the association will draw its five $1,500 scholarship winners for the 2011-2012 school year. It is accepting applications through April 30. Applicants must be children or legal dependents of someone employed by a MD-DC Vending Association member company for two years or more, and accepted to or currently enrolled in a two-or four-year undergraduate or graduate college degree program or vocational or trade school.

There is no charge for operators to attend the meeting and play golf; suppliers must pay a sponsor fee to participate in the reception, dinner and golf events.
