WASHINGTON, DC - Low Carb Vending LLC and Monumental Vending (Beltsville, MD) have begun deployment of vending machines branded with low-carbohydrate products at high-profile locations in the Washington, DC, area.

The "Low Carb Vending" machines, which sell such leading low-carbohydrate lines as Atkins Nutritionals, Carb Solutions, CarbWise, EAS and Slim Fast, presently are located at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital (Rockville, MD), with 7,000 full and part-time employees, and the NBC News Washington Bureau/WRC-TV Channel 4, a leading regional, national and international media outlet in Washington, DC.

The branded vending machines merchandise as many as 30 unique low-carb products, including various sizes of nutrition bars, candy bars, meal replacement shakes (in both cans and aseptic packages) and snack chips.

Low Carb Vending selected Jofemar "Multiplus" vending machines for the launch of its branded program, because of their versatility, unique "billboard advertising" capabilities and innovative technology. The Jofemar "Multiplus" is refrigerated, maintaining two internal temperature zones, and can vend any single-serve low-carb food or beverage product, whether it is a can, drink box, bottle, nutrition bar, candy bar or snack bag.

Through its nationwide network of vending operators, Low Carb Vending will be installing low-carbohydrate branded vending machines at locations throughout the U.S. Target sites include office buildings, hospitals, government offices, educational institutions (high schools and colleges), airports, train stations, hotels, health clubs, country clubs, golf courses, resorts and vacation destinations, law offices, accounting firms, technology companies, rental car outlets and amusement parks.

Organizations and their employees can register online at the company's website,, to request that "Low Carb Vending" machines be placed at their facilities located in the U.S.

"Our market research indicates that branded or dedicated 'Low Carb Vending' machines are the most effective method to cater to the 30 to 50 million Americans who are 'carb conscious' or on low-carb diets," said Joe Preston, cofounder of Low Carb Vending LLC. "These 'carb-conscious' consumers have been conditioned to believe that most vending machines contain only products high in sugar and fat. Many low-carb dieters shy away from even approaching typical vending machines. 'Low Carb Vending' machines provide carb-conscious consumers with healthy snacking solutions."

Monumental Vending co-CEO David Gordon added: "For this reason, it is critical to successfully communicate to the consumer through graphics, signage and promotion that these 'Low Carb Vending' machines now offer healthy, low-carb products."

Headquartered in Beltsville, Maryland and founded in 1991 by David Gordon and Craig Kushner, Monumental Vending is one of the largest independent vending operators in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. It has maintained a 25% annual growth rate over the past 10 years.

Bob Grosh, cofounder of Low Carb Vending, is a senior executive with more than 30 years experience as a vending operator and technology innovator in the vending industry.

Grosh served as president of High Food Services, Ltd. (Lancaster, PA). He was also vice-president of corporate operations for Service America Corp., a $1.2 billion vending operator and contract foodservice company based in Stamford, CT. A past member of the National Automatic Merchandising Association's Technical Standards Committee, Grosh also has been a contributing author to VENDING TIMES.

As the president of RYS&G Associates, a leading consulting firm based in Hummelstown, PA, Grosh assists his clients to dramatically increase revenues by employing modern category management techniques.
