KC Sportservice Wins Concessions Contract At Livestrong Stadium

KANSAS CITY, KS -- Sporting Kansas City, a Major League Soccer team, has announced its selection of KC American Sportservice to provide food and beverage services at its new Livestrong Sporting Park. Sporting Kansas City (formerly the Kansas City Wizards) is one of the original 10 MLS member clubs.

KC American Sportservice is a joint venture of Delaware North Cos. Sportservice (Buffalo, NY) and American Food & Vending (Syracuse, NY). Sportservice operates at more than 50 professional sports and entertainment venues, including Busch Stadium (St. Louis), Soldier Field (Chicago) and Red Bull Arena (Harrison, NJ). Delaware North also serves premier soccer venues in other countries, including Wembley and Emirates stadiums in London, England.

"Sportservice is thrilled to be working with American Food & Vending to bring world-class hospitality, concessions and dining to Sporting Kansas City's incredible new stadium," Sportservice president Rick Abramson said.

American Food & Vending is one of the largest independent corporate dining and vending service companies in the United States.  It serves more than 30,000 meals a day to some of Kansas City's largest companies.

"We are excited to add the region's newest major attraction to our existing portfolio of the city's best-known corporations and cultural institutions," said Bob Otto, American Food & Vending's senior vice-president.

Livestrong Sporting Park is managed for Sporting Kansas City by Global Spectrum. The stadium seats 18,467 for soccer and approximately 25,000 for concerts. Its foodservice installations include 36 suites and five clubs.

The stadium's Members Club features the first restaurant in an MLS arena that is open on nongame days. The unique 2,000-person capacity club features long high-top tables, 28 flatscreen televisions, two huge high-definition projection screens and a DJ booth. The 8,000-sq.ft. area has large glass doors facing the playing field that will be open on game days.

KC American Sportservice is putting the finishing touches on the diverse menus planned for the Members Club, including a large buffet and several "action stations" where food will be prepared and served fresh. It also will serve fans in the Stadium Club with a capacity of 1,000, which will feature a premium buffet; in the Field Club, with in-seat service for 400; and in two suite-level lounges, to serve guests in a European dining style.

Sportservice will implement Delaware North's customer service and environmental management programs, GuestPath, and GreenPath, at the new KC facility.

The stadium's eight permanent concession stands will feature a variety of foods presented in six different concession themes: Kansas City BBQ, Grill, Pizza, Stadium Fare, Children's and Southern Border. Portable concession carts will supplement the permanent installations.

Sporting KC will open the new stadium on June 9 against rival Chicago Fire in a game scheduled for cablecast on ESPN2.
