LOUISVILLE, KY -- john conti Coffee Co. reports that it is preparing to send a truck carrying water, coffee, towels, cups and other relief supplies to several nearby communities that were devastated by powerful tornadoes late last week. The twisters killed 21 people in Kentucky, the north central part of which was hardest hit, and 13 in Indiana. A snowstorm has since added to the survivors' difficulties.

The company is sending a truck with relief supplies to the area tomorrow, and invites friends and wellwishers to contribute to the effort.

Company founder John Conti reports that 1,900 people are homeless in Marysville, IN, about 20 miles north of Louisville.

The john conti truck will depart on Wednesday, March 7.

"If you, or anyone you know, wants to put donations on the truck, please bring them into the office, located at 4406 Ole Brickyard Circle [40218], and we will add it to what is already collected," Conti has emailed. Valuable contributions can include "Items like towels, blankets, canned goods, clothing, toiletries, etc. ... anything that will help.

"We will most probably be making another run," Conti said, "so if you cannot get to us by Wednesday, please bring in your donations, and we will be sure to get them to those in need."

The john conti Coffee Co., established in 1962, began roasting its own coffee in 1971. Today, it produces more than 1.5 million pounds of coffee annually and serves over a million cups of coffee every day. Conti is an office coffee service pioneer and a past-chairman of the National Coffee Service Association.
