J.M. Smucker Co. Pacts To Acquire Nut-And-Fruit Snackmaker Sahale

ORRVILLE, OH -- J.M. Smucker Co. reports that is has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Sahale Snacks Inc. (Seattle). Sahale, a privately held company, is a manufacturer and marketer of premium branded nut and fruit snacks, primarily sold in the United States. It has been a portfolio company of a private equity fund affiliated with Palladium Equity Partners LLC since 2007. Its net sales are projected to be approximately $50 million for the 2014 calendar year.

The acquisition includes a leased facility in Seattle, and will bring some 150 new employees to the Smucker organization. The transaction is expected to close by the middle of September.

Smucker is a leading marketer and manufacturer of packaged coffee, peanut butter, fruit spreads, shortening and oils, ice cream toppings, sweetened condensed milk, and natural foods products in North America. Its U.S. brands include Smucker's, Folgers, Café Bustelo and Café Pilon.
