J.M. Smucker '1850' Premium Coffee Brand Targets Millennials

BOCA RATON, FL  -- J.M. Smucker Co.  provided a sneak peak at its "1850" premium coffee brand at the Consumer Analyst Group of New York (CAGNY) conference in Boca Raton, FL.

The new line is inspired by the heritage of Folger Coffee Co., founded during the 1850s Gold Rush in California. It's described as evenly roasted coffee made from a special blend of 100% Arabica coffee beans fire-roasted and steel cut for a bold but smooth taste that many of today's younger consumers seek. It includes Lantern Glow light roast; Pioneer Blend medium roast; Trailblazer medium-dark roast; and Black Gold dark roast

The name, 1850, and its craft brand imagery was inspired by the original packaging of Folger Coffee Co.

The new coffee line will be available in April, initially in roast and ground and whole bean prepack bags and Keurig K-Cups. The 1850 portfolio will expand with a ready-to-drink offering this summer.
