LAKEWOOD, NJ -- Jersey Jack Pinball Inc. reports that it has begun appointing factory-authorized distributorships. To date, they include The Pinball Co. (Columbia, MO), Abel Electronics (St. Clair Shores, MI) and Bumper Action Amusements (South Melbourne, Australia). All three market to collectors, hobbyists and home recreational customers.

Jersey Jack founder Jack Guarnieri reports that The Pinball Co. was the first distributor to place an order for its new Emerald City Limited Edition Wizard of Oz Pinball game in January of this year. "Our presales are through the roof," said Nic Parks, who founded The Pinball Co. with his wife Brooke.

They also run The Game Room Store and an e-commerce site at

Guarnieri met Gary Monarch of Abel Electronics at the Michigan Pinball Expo this spring. "I love what he is doing and he understands how to support a distribution network," Monarch said. "We're with him 100%." Abel Electronics (formerly Bell Electronics) was established in 1959, and is online at

Bumper Action's Del Reiss has become a legend during his 38 years of running Bumper Action Amusements in southern Australia, Guarnieri noted, and the company's David Stein and David Maxton have reinforced the distributorship's reputation through their dedication to customer service and support. It is online at

More distributors already are on board, Guarnieri reported, and will be announced soon. He explained that Jersey Jack Pinball is building a distributor program that  supports and encourages local sales and service. Extended warranty support and discounted replacement parts sales are all part of the distribution package; distributors also receive promotional and collectible merchandise that they can pass along to their customers.

Guarnieri, an industry veteran who pioneered online sales of classic coin-op games, is a principal in Elaut USA. He formally established Jersey Jack Pinball in January to address a demand for commercial-quality games with traditional styling and advanced features. He plans to base his games on licensed properties, the first of which is The Wizard of Oz. Plans call for an initial limited-edition run of 1,000 by the end of the year, and Guarnieri reports that he is nearing the 700 pre-order mark. | SEE FIRST VT REPORT

Progress on development of the new machine, which is expected to be immensely popular among most pinball enthusiasts, has been kept secret. However, playfield drawings and cabinet (see image on this page) and backglass renderings have appeared on the Internet over the past month. And sources have told VT that music riffs for the game, which is expected to ship at the end of this year, are almost complete.

In April, Jersey Jack Pinball announced an agreement with Planetary Pinball Supply (San Jose, CA) under which Planetary -- a licensee of Williams Electronics -- becomes a supplier of parts for The Wizard of Oz. Guarnieri's company has also retained some of the best pinball engineers and designers, many of them offshoots of Williams. | SEE STORY
