CHICAGO -- The National Automatic Merchandising Association has announced the NAMA Foundation's selection of the two inaugural recipients of its Dan Mathews Scholarship. They are Jack Brown, ReFresh Facility Services (Hammond, IN), and Hans Lutkefedder, Vend Natural Holdings (Annapolis, MD).

Established in honor of NAMA's former executive vice-president and chief operating officer, who retired earlier this year, the new scholarship covers general registration fees for the NAMA Coffee, Tea & Water conference and provides a $1,000 travel stipend. This year's CTW is slated for Nov. 6 through 8 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center (Grapevine, TX).

"The NAMA Foundation is proud to support our small operators and honor Dan's legacy with these scholarships," said NAMA Foundation director Terri Bruce. "We were thoroughly impressed with this inaugural pool of candidates and their commitment to continuing education and advancing our industry."

During his time at NAMA, Mathews was known for being passionate about the importance of continuing education for industry professionals, particularly small vending operators. For that reason, the scholarships are specifically designated for NAMA operator members with 10 or fewer employees.
