TOM'S RIVER, NJ — Danielle Mirabal, a retired schoolteacher, decided to do something very different as she planned her second career. The result was Bounce About Laser Tag, a family entertainment center in this seaside city. She learned by doing, and one lesson taught during her first two years as an operator was that she needed to make the move from running her arcade games on quarters.

"We didn't have a change machine, and we were making change at the front desk," she recalled. "I had a million quarter jams, and I was always fixing coin mechanisms."

She turned to Intercard for a better way, and the company assisted her to make the leap to cashless technology and its related management benefits. She has never looked back.

With the ability to accept credit cards as well as cash for game play, Mirabal quickly saw a jump in her arcade revenue. "I want to say at least a 40% increase because I was only able to do cash before," she explained, "and we would lose business." Moreover, the games' uptime improved with the elimination of coin mechs.

The switch to cashless technology eliminated those problems, and also helped improve her marketing and promotions, from being able to offer special pricing for specific times to donating branded game cards to local school fundraisers.

She also praises Intercard's excellent customer service before and after the sale and installation. "You know, like anything with technology, we're going to have the hiccups," she says. "I have always gotten someone on the phone at Intercard; I have not been more than caller one or two and they stay on the phone until they solve the problem for me."

Mirabal gives high marks to her Intercard sales rep, Todd DeMott, who lives in her area. "He's come here to fix my games, and he doesn't have to do that," she said. "And he continues to follow up with me; he wants to make sure we do well here."

Intercard was founded in 1979 and has become is a market leader in cashless technology for the amusement and attraction industries. It has delivered hundreds of systems, thousands of readers and millions of cards into more than 4,000 locations around the globe, and now has branches in Europe and Asia.
