DÜSSELDORF, Germany -- Next year's IMA international trade fair for amusement and vending machines is slated for January 15 through 18 at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center. The four-day schedule has been adopted to provide better service to the larger number of visitors attracted by the show's new location.

The show is sponsored by VDAI (Verband der Deutschen Automatenindustrie), Germany's trade association for equipment manufacturers, distributors, importers and exporters. The show moved from Nuremberg to Düsseldorf this year, and attracted a record number of trade visitors. The VDAI board, meeting in Berlin, therefore decided to add a day to meet the higher demand for technical, commercial and logistical consultation.

The move to a more densely populated region more accessible from other European population centers came at a good time, VDAI observed. Germany's new Gambling Ordinance, which took effect last fall, has given a new impetus to the industry after years of near-stagnation.

This year's IMA featured 140 exhibits from 14 nations, showcasing not only gaming and other amusement equipment but also money management systems and a variety of equipment concepts for modern recreational venues.

IMA 2008 also will feature more exhibit space. With the incorporation of a new exhibit hall, 8b, to the Exhibition Center, IMA will have a second building at its disposal from 2008 onwards.

"At present, all signs point to growth," said IMA project manager Petra Lassahn.

IMA is administered by Reed Exhibitions Deutschland. Information may be found online at (click on the British flag at the top right of the home page for the English version).
