VERNON HILLS, IL -- Incredible Technologies announced that Prize Play on its Golden Tee Live video golf simulator game has awarded more than $50 million in prizes to players. The milestone was reached, and passed, in August.

The Prize Play format engages 50 players from around the world in a contest of skill on a virtual 18-hole golf course. Players pay an additional $1 entry fee to create a $50 prize pool. The top 20 scores win the entire $50 in the form of cash prizes that range from $10 to $1. The remaining players win "virtual equipment" that they can use in future games.

IT observed that, as a result of the long-lasting popularity of Golden Tee Live, more than a million contests have been held. The entire $50 million in prize money was automatically awarded to hundreds of thousands of players. As soon as the contest closes, the prize money is added to the player's online account, which is accessible at the game. Players have the choice of collecting the money or using it to pay for additional games.

"Although players can always cash out their prize winnings, over $43 million of the $50 million in prizes were used to play more Golden Tee," said IT amusement head Don Pesceone. "When prize money is used to pay for games, the player is basically giving his winnings back to the machine owner. This is all 'found money' and plus business that directly benefits amusement operators."

Golden Tee Live offers prize formats on both 18-hole course and "closest to the pin" modes. The next game update, slated for release at the end of September, will introduce an all-new "daily contest" mode, which will offer players another way to compete for attractive cash prizes. | SEE STORY

"The unprecedented popularity of Prize Play and fast-paced Closest to the Pin contests will continue to engage players in the newest version of Golden Tee," Pesceone predicted. Moreover, the forthcoming repeat-play daily contest prize format will create more winners, encourage more game play and generate more profits, he added.
