Gold Standard Games, Premium Air Hockey

BAY CITY, MI -- Gold Standard Games (formerly Shelti) has announced that all three models in its coin-op air hockey table line are now shipping. Each is designed for maximum player appeal, earnings longevity and durability, according to the manufacturer.

The top-of-the-line Premium model features overhead scoring and a playfield light. The header is equipped with an outward-facing video monitor that not only makes the scores easily visible to onlookers, but also can present player and promotional information between games. The operator can customize display content, so it can be used to publicize location specials, tournaments and other programming.

The overhead scoring module that supports the monitor displays scores for viewing from both ends of the table; a "players' choice" option permits switching playfield lighting to either black-light fluorescence (the puck glows brightly under ultraviolet illumination) or conventional white light. The table incorporates what the manufacturer describes as "the most durable laminate surface available." The U.S. Air Hockey Association has sanctioned the table for competitive play.

Gold Standard's Elite model ships without the monitor, but includes the overhead scoring and lighting unit with the player's choice options. The basic Professional table has side score displays only.

All three models measure 99.5" long; the Premium and Elite are 55.5" wide, while the basic measures 51.25" -- it is narrower because of the absence of the vertical support members required by the models with overhead displays. All three tables feature extra-sturdy, player-friendly two-piece goal ends and heavy-duty corner caps.

Mark Robbins, a 30-year veteran of air hockey who purchased the assets of Bay City, MI-based Shelti Inc. three years ago, designed the new Gold Standard tables. Robbins now runs the company. | SEE STORY

"Operators looking for longevity and great earnings year after year should check out our tables at the upcoming Amusement Expo," Robbins stated.

The company also is finalizing details of the production model based on the colorful air hockey table for family entertainment centers, previewed at last fall's IAAPA Attractions Expo, Robbins added. "At Amusement Expo we will have the production model on display, featuring attention-grabbing graphics and LED lighting," he said.
