SUNRISE, FL -- Family Entertainment Group (Itasca, IL) said it has purchased the GameRoom family entertainment center located in the Sawgrass Mills Mall here. GameRoom had been owned by amusement industry veteran Ron Mogerman, who operated the FEC for more than six years.

Sawgrass Mills Mall is one of the largest outlet and value retail shopping destinations in the U.S., and GameRoom occupies 21,000 square feet in the mall's Oasis section. The FEC is home to more than 140 amusement games and four lanes of mini-bowling, and is collocated with a Johnny Rockets restaurant. Yogurt Ur Way is also located on the premises as an added treat for guests. GameRoom has two formal event rooms for birthday parties, and is easily transformed for corporate and group functions.

FEG reports that a major upgrade to the location is planned for the interior and exterior. Outside, an update to the existing entry will confer a new look while important changes are made inside. Work is scheduled to start this fall; when it's complete, guests will be greeted by a new redemption center, as well as new attractions and games. A new bowling lounge with contemporary seating will add to GameRoom's transformation and "new vibe," the company added.

GameRoom currently employs more than 30 staff members, primarily local students and residents.
