ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL -- For operators, locations and videogame players across the country, the end of summer means that new Golden Tee courses are on their way. This month, Incredible Technologies is offering five in its annual Golden Tee LIVE software update, which brings the total number of courses up to 40. IT marketing director Scott Morrison describes the latest courses in Golden Tee LIVE 2013 as "gorgeous and approachable 18-hole playfields." Input from player research inspired wider fairways, larger greens and multiple tee placements, he said.

Bear Lodge is nestled amid Alaska's tallest mountains. It's located at Hatcher Pass, with snow-covered mountaintops in the background. Strategically placed rivers and lakes encourage players to take chances on driveable par-4s and par-5s, while traditional golf elements greet them throughout the round.

Cape Haven is tucked away in Nag's Head, NC, home to the largest sand dunes on the East Coast, and widely regarded as one of the most unique golfing experiences in the country. In IT's virtual simulation, innumerable dunes can impact gameplay; choppy Atlantic seas also come into play on errant drives and approaches.

Coconut Beach is surrounded by majestic blue water, but Morrison says "it's not your average tropical getaway." IT's Punta Gorda, Belize, masterpiece has more bite than bark. Constructed throughout a rugged Caribbean jungle, nature will likely force players to use every club in their bags. Dense trees and ancient ruins are among the virtual golfer's foes.

Jack Rabbit Junction's 18-hole trek swelters under the sun as it takes Golden Tee players way off the beaten path. Unlike most desert courses, IT's Gila Bend, AZ, creation is not chock-a-block with sand, but instead spreads across the dry, sun-drenched earth that stopped growing grass long ago. Cacti are abundant on this course.

Sequoia Grove is "truly a one-of-a-kind setting," Morrison claims. Calaveras, CA, is home to the largest trees on the planet, and in one compact area. Sequoias, some boasting base diameters of 20 feet or more, blend in with the clouds. In Golden Tee 2013, these gigantic obstacles are scattered throughout this course, and are designed to push virtual-golfing creativity to the max. To score low, players must learn how to go under, around and even through the Sequoias.

The 2013 course update includes new balls and club sets for purchase, as well as new clothing items for players to collect. Graphics and the user interface have been enhanced.

According to Morrison, IT's Golden Tee development team made a huge effort to integrate updated technology into the new game without affecting performance or price. A complete rewrite of its base Linux operating system and optimized graphics and performance for older Nighthawk systems in the field are among the improvements.

To support the new capabilities, this year's software update includes extra RAM (1GB), which requires installation, at no additional charge.

Morrison said that every aspect of the 2013 golf videogame has been improved for HDTV resolution. New anti-aliasing and shading algorithms smooth out images, and add realism and depth. New grass textures detail individual blades, and sand traps depict natural patterns caused by wind and wear. Water effects have been improved to not only show the sun glinting off the rippling surface, but also exotic creatures swimming below. Leaves on trees sway in the breeze as their shadows follow the sun along the fairway.

Golden Tee 2013 still supports older game cabinets and CRT monitors. Visit to learn more.
