BRUSSELS, Belgium -- The European Vending Association is planning to hold its annual EurOps conference in conjunction with a festive Vending Cruise. The cruise, aboard the Costa Mediterranea, departs from the historic northern Italian seaport Savona on May 3rd. The ship will visit Barcelona, Spain on Saturday, May 4, and Palma de Mallorca on the following day. EurOps will take place during the Mallorca stopover. The ship then will proceed to Marseilles, France, on May 6 and return to Savona the next day. Other EurOps itineraries are available.

The Vending Cruise is a business initiative organized by Venditalia Servizi (Milan, Italy) and Europs organizer EVA; it is being promoted by the Italian national vending association Confida (originally the Confederazione Italiana Distribuzione Automatica). Among EVA member organizations supporting it are the national associations of Austria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The 2013 EurOps conference will get underway at 2:30 p.m. on May 5 with a state of the industry report by EVA president A. Van Amerongen. At 2:45 p.m., David Kirby of PWC will speak on "growth opportunities in challenging times," and Jan Marck Vrijlandt of Selecta will explore the topic, "premium coffee service: opportunity or challenge?"

A question-and-answer period and a coffee break will follow. At 4:30 p.m., Fabrizio Valente of Kiki Lab will explore "the unbelievable world of vending machines." Information technology solutions will be the subject for the next presenter, Giovanni Nebiolo of Supermatic S.p.A. After another Q&A session and networking break, the program will culminate in the presentation of the three best projects submitted for the European Vending Association's "Image of Vending" awards competition, from 5:40 p.m. to 6:25 p.m. Van Amerongen then will deliver concluding remarks. A cocktail reception and the vending awards ceremony will follow, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
