EVA Readies Communications, Strategic Plans For Debut At December AGM

BRUSSELS, Belgium -- The European Vending Association will hold its Annual General Meeting here on Dec. 13, followed by an all-day workshop on the 14th. Both are scheduled for the Thon Hotel Bristol Stephanie.

The AGM will convene at 3 p.m. on Dec. 13 (Thursday), with a cocktail reception and dinner at the Chalet Robinson set for 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The workshop on Friday will begin at 10:45 a.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m.

The workshop is themed "A European Strategy for Vending," and will afford registrants the opportunity to participate in three moderated roundtable sessions. Topics to be explored include "Halfway to Vending 2020," "Telling the Good Story of vending to Stakeholders," the role of the European Vending Association and its member national associations in helping small and medium-sized enterprises to become more "strategic" and forward-thinking; thought leadership (what is expected of EVA); the role of vending associations in growing the business nationally and internationally; and "Out of the Box, Into the Vending Box."

The business sessions will be held from 11:15 a.m. to noon, 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. From 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., the respective roundtable chairman will summarize the discussions at each. The event will conclude with closing remarks by EVA president Arnaud van Amerongen, Aequator AG (Arbon, Switzerland), from 4:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The association reported that there has been a growing demand for EVA to lead a communication campaign to promote the image of vending as a value channel, and to take action to promote industry growth. Since EVA has now completed its market study for 2010 and 2011, so it now has almost a decade of information -- the research goes back to 2003 -- to define a strategic plan for vending in the years ahead.

"Finally, we will discuss how vending can be promoted to the end consumer, government agencies and stakeholders, by centralizing the message and making better use of the resources available at the EVA, across the 20 national associations and the 70+ corporate members," the association said. "In short, with all the knowledge and the technologies at hand, how do we move from Vending 2012 to Vending 2020?" The workshop has been organized to address that question.

Registration for the event package includes attendance at the AGM and the workshop, coffee breaks and a buffet lunch, transportation between the Bristol Stephanie Hotel and the venue, and the cocktail reception and dinner at the Chalet Robinson. The fee for members of EVA and the national trade associations is 380 euros (about $490), and for nonmembers, 490 euros (about $632). Partner and spouse registration for the reception and dinner is 120 euros (about $155). These prices do not include the 21% Belgian VAT, nor overnight accommodations at the Thon Hotel Bristol Stephanie. Those wishing to attend must register by Dec. 4.
