SINGAPORE -- New from Embed is the Mobile Wallet virtual game card. The app, which can be added to the Apple Wallet under iOS or Google Pay under Android, brings the functionality of a state-of-the-art game card to the player’s smartphone, enabling guests to tap and reload without leaving the game. Embed reports that the Mobile Wallet also enables operators to learn about customer behavior, game use and spending habits.

“We are very excited to be the first and only FEC cashless business solution to offer the Mobile Wallet,” said Embed chief executive Renee Welsh. “This breakthrough enables any business currently using the Embed Toolkit system (kiosk, game cards, smartTouch readers and range of business solutions) to simply add the Mobile Wallet (Mobile Portal) module to their existing business solution and offer it to their customers.

“We know consumers don’t want to use cash, or fumble with tokens,” Walsh reported. “They pervasively use their mobile wallets to pay for everything.” This is especially true of millennials, she noted, but there is growing uptake on the part of all demographic cohorts: it’s a payment method that assures convenience, speed and security.

“A new product module for our existing Toolkit system that enables existing Embed customers to offer their guests the ability to register the game card in the operator’s Mobile Portal -- part of the Embed solution -- and the option to add the game card to their mobile wallet is a win-win for operators and their guests,” she said.

The Mobile Wallet has been this year’s top-secret development project, Embed reported. The company started by working with a very large family entertainment center operation on the Mobile Wallet, with their internal and external development teams, and with Google and Apple to gain compliance approval for Embed’s smartTouch readers.

“This breakthrough is a result of a collaborative effort with our partners and customers: the ;perators, Apple and Google,” said Embed chief technology officer Andy Welsh. “We listen and work very closely with our clients, drawing inspiration from other industries, monitoring technological advancement and closely research consumer behavior to deliver this end-result, and ultimately enabling business owners to increase profitability.”

Customer retention and loyalty strategies are an integral part of a business’s success plan, Embed pointed out. The new Mobile Wallet, part of its Mobile Portal module, is simple and convenient for guests to use: it’s completely cloud-based (not an application download), and operators can bundle offers to drive repeat visits and improve customer loyalty.

“Guests have very little patience for standing in line, wasting time,” Embed pointed out. “The immediacy of reloading the virtual game card means greater revenue, less manpower, less hardware costs, and greater profit. Guests don’t have to stand in line at the kiosk, cashier, or balance-check machine; they can increase spend and reduce dwell-time by simply topping-up without leaving the game. And they they can reload their virtual game cards anytime, anywhere.”

Game card-related information is protected by advanced security and encrypted mobile technology, which eliminates lost game cards for guests and risk for operators.

To obtain the card, the patron purchases and registers the physical game card through the Mobile Portal, Embed explained; this can be done at the kiosk or by using a mobile device. The Mobile Portal shows a virtual card displaying the Card Balance Check and Ticket Balance. The patron has the option of adding this virtual card to a Mobile Wallet. “Then start game play,” the company concluded. “Fun is a simple tap away.”

Customers can quickly reload their game cards at any time, from anywhere, without leaving the game. They then can redeem prizes from the Mobile Wallet.

The Embed team will demonstrate the new Mobile Wallet at this fall’s International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The company will be exhibiting in Booth 1336 at the event’s trade show, which will be held from Nov. 19 through 22.

CONVENIENCE ON TAP: New Embed Mobile Wallet option allows users of Android and Apple iOS smart devices to store their Embed game cards in a mobile wallet for use in purchasing gameplay and redeeming prizes.
