LAND O'LAKES, FL -- Holiday House Distributing is accepting preorders for a novel valve manufactured by Eltek Group (Casale Monferrato, Italy). The apparatus, called Water Block, is designed to prevent the overflow of water in appliances by measuring the amount of water flowing into the tank, and shutting off the inlet if a preset volume is exceeded.

The valve was previewed in the Everpure exhibit at the National Automatic Merchandising Association's OneShow in Las Vegas this spring. The manufacturer is readying an "approved North America" model using materials chosen specifically for their resistance to the levels of chlorine found in municipal water supplies here.

The Water Block is formed with 3/4" inlet and outlet couplings, and incorporates a 10-position adjustment control. The adjustment dial may be set for volumes ranging from 1.3 gallons to 13.2 gallons. In use, water flowing through the device while the protected appliance's tank is filling is measured. If the volume exceeds the preset limit, the control snaps to its closed position, shutting off the water. The device requires no power other than that provided by the water flowing through it and is easy to set and reset.

Water Block can withstand static pressure up to 145 pounds per square inch; burst pressure is 725 PSI. It works at flow rates between 0.53 and 7.9 gallons per minute, and may be used with water as hot as 158°F. Its lifespan is approximately 80,000 gallons.
