CHARLOTTE, NC -- Snyder's-Lance Inc. chief executive David Singer plans to retire following the company's annual meeting of stockholders on May 3. Carl Lee Jr., who has served as the snack company's president and chief operating officer since December 2010, will succeed him.

Singer has served as a director of the company since 2003 and as chief executive since 2005. He will not stand for reelection as a director, but will serve as an advisor in support of the leadership transition through February 2014.

The Charlotte, NC-based snack maker acknowledged Singer for spearheading a turnaround beginning in 2005, which involved overhauling its supply chain, sales, marketing and distribution. Under Singer's leadership, the company also completed several acquisitions. In late 2010, he oversaw the Lance Inc. merger with Snyder's of Hanover Inc. to create Snyder's-Lance Inc. | SEE STORY
