David Sadler Dies At 80; Headed Rowe International Corp.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- David Gary Sadler, former chairman and chief executive of Rowe International, died here on Aug. 8. He was 80.

An accomplished executive, Sadler was well-known to the music and amusement industry as chairman and chief executive of of Rowe International here. During his varied career, he also served as vice-president of manufacturing for Massey Ferguson; president of the Diversified and International Groups at International Harvester (Chicago), chairman and chief executive of Savin Corp. (Stamford, CT); chairman and chief executive of Merisel Inc. (Los Angeles, CA); and chairman and chief executive of Global Motor Sports Group (Morgan Hill, CA). During his career, he also consulted for Merrill Lynch Capital Partners, Stonington Partners, GE Capital, Chemical and Chase Manhattan Bank, among others.

Sadler was recruited by Capital Partners, which then owned Rowe International, to lead the company in the late 1990s, a period of swift transformation in the industry.

He is survived by his wife Karen; daughters Katie, Laura and Angela; son Cary; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A private service for his family and close friends will be held on Sunday, August 18 at St. Robert of Newminster Parish (Ada, MI).
