BRIDGETON, MO -- Crane Merchandising Systems has announced the acquisition of the software rights, employees and customer base of inOne Technology's software division. These become part of Streamware, a Crane Co. company and business unit of CMS.

inOne was formed by the merger of Audit Systems Co. with EMS Solutions three years ago (see VT, October 2002). ASC had acquired Vendmaster in the previous year.

Streamware will assume responsibility for inOne's software products. These include the management software suite developed by EMS Solutions prior to its merger into inOne, and Vendmaster's Navigator handheld route recording and analysis application.

The nine inOne software division employees are joining Streamware as well, and the company plans to maintain the EMS and "Navigator" applications for its new clients for the foreseeable future.

The rest of inOne's products and services remain available from the inOne organization, under the management of president Gene Ostendorf.

In making the announcement, Crane Merchandising Systems president Brad Ellis said, "This acquisition confirms CMS's focus on advanced technology in all segments of our business.

"When Crane acquired Streamware in 2000, we said the company would be the building-block in our strategy to meet the demand for more sophisticated vending and merchandising systems," he recalled. "Today, Crane provides a full complement of  technology solutions, from equipment and payment systems to software, to help our clients become more productive and more profitable."

Streamware general manager Paul McGarry added that the acquisition of inOne's employees and customers will allow Streamware to accelerate new product development initiatives. "We are doubling the size of our company overnight," he observed. "We will invest those additional resources in products and services that improve our clients' productivity and profitability."

McGarry emphasized that Streamware is committed to serving the former inOne software user base. "We want to reassure our new clients that there will be continuity throughout the process," he emphasized. "The sales and support staff they know and trust will continue to serve them; their products will be supported; and their business needs will be respected."

With 200 vending operator clients, Streamware is firmly established as a leading provider of vending management software. Its flagship products are VendMax and DeliveryMax, and it also provides a market research service, InfoVend.

CMS said it is the only original-equipment manufacturer to offer a completely integrated solution, from vending machines and peripherals through software to service and aftermarket parts. CMS has offices at its Bridgeton, MO, headquarters and in Norwood, MA; Toronto; and in several European cities.
