Coke Consolidated Acquires And Exchanges Distribution Territories And Manufacturing Facilities

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated said it has acquired distribution territories and manufacturing facilities from Coca-Cola Co. and Coke United. The territories, previously served by Coca-Cola, are in parts of southern Alabama, southwestern Georgia, southeastern Mississippi, northwestern Florida, and in and around Somerset, KY.

Coke Consolidated has also acquired a manufacturing facility in Mobile, AL, and distribution territory previously served by Coca-Cola Refreshments USA Inc., a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Co., in parts of Arkansas, along with two manufacturing facilities previously owned by CCR in Memphis, Tennessee and West Memphis, AR.

The Charlotte, NC-based bottler will also acquire additional distribution territory previously served by CCR in the Memphis, TN, region, including in portions of northwestern Mississippi and eastern Arkansas.

As part of the transactions, Coke Consolidated acquired exclusive distribution rights in territory that includes Little Rock, West Memphis and southern Arkansas; and Memphis, TN.

As part of its deal with Coca-Cola, Coke Consolidated relinquished to Coca-Cola distribution rights in territory that includes Mobile, Leroy and Robertsdale, AL; Columbus, Sylvester and Bainbridge, GA; Ocean Springs, MS; Panama City, FL; and Somerset, KY.

Coke Consolidated said it also exchanged with Coca-Cola Bottling Co. United Inc., a private Coke bottler based in Birmingham, AL, territory that it previously served in Florence, AL, south-central Tennessee and Laurel, MS, for distribution territory previously served by United in Spartanburg and portions of Bluffton, SC.

Additionally, Piedmont Coca-Cola Bottling Partnership, a majority owned subsidiary of CCR, exchanged distribution territory previously served by Piedmont in northeastern Georgia for the remainder of the distribution territory in Bluffton, SC, previously served by United.
