CoffeeShow Workshop Reviews Health Care Reform's Impact CHICAGO -- The effects of the new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on coffee service and vending operators will be explored at a special session during the National Automatic Merchandising Association's CoffeeShow.

The two-part program, providing a "Health Care Industry Overview" and exploring "How Health Reform Legislation Impacts You and Your Bottom Line," will be presented by Matt Smith, Lockton Cos. (Kansas City, MO), from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Oct. 21. NAMA's CoffeeShow is set for Oct. 20 through 22 at Bally's Resort in Las Vegas.

Lockton is the world's largest privately owned independent insurance brokerage, providing risk management, insurance and employee benefits to clients through 51 offices around the world. Prior to joining the organization, Smith has been a senior underwriter at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City. He previously had held underwriting and leadership development roles in CIGNA's Connecticut office.

"Employers have been dealing with healthcare costs soaring at a rate that has far exceeded inflation," said NAMA vice-president of sales and service Dean Gilland, "and now there are new questions about what this legislation means, exactly, and how it will affect businesses."

NAMA therefore has striven to give showgoers access to expert advice about an important and potentially costly subject, he explained.

The new CoffeeShow seeks to build on the success of NAMA's popular Coffee Summits. The Chicago-based vending association regards the trade show as the largest in the United States for providers of coffee, tea and pure water services.
