HAYWARD, CA -- Food robotics company Chowbotics has named Rick Wilmer its new chief executive.

Chowbotics makes fresh food accessible with Sally, a fresh food robot that provides customizable salads, bowls and snacks 24/7 in a 3' x 3' space.

Chowbotics reports that it has doubled its revenue every quarter in 2019 and said it is poised to scale its operations even further by bringing in a proven chief executive with more than 30 years of experience to the helm.

"I was immediately drawn to Chowbotics because of its phenomenal people, innovative product, impressive financial growth, and promising outlook for the future," says Wilmer. "I am thrilled to be working at the forefront of making fresh, healthy and delicious food ubiquitously available through technology. It's an honor to be part of this team as we navigate the company into this new chapter of expansion."

Chowbotics' founder, Dr. Deepak Sekar, recruited Wilmer to Chowbotics. An inventor with 125 patents and the creator of Sally the Robot, he will assume the role of president, with responsibility for technology, products and strategic partnerships.

Wilmer's background includes a variety of roles and responsibilities that will help him provide expertise and guidance to the team at Chowbotics. He started his career in the hard disk drive industry, taking sophisticated electromechanical products to high volume production in vice-president of engineering and vice-president of operations roles. Later, he was part of the management team at Aruba Networks as it conducted its IPO. He then joined Pliant as CEO and led it to an acquisition by SanDisk for $327million. Recently, he was the chief executive of Mojo Networks, which he led to its acquisition by Arista Networks.

"Since founding Chowbotics in 2014, my goal has been to bring fresh food to all through the proliferation of food robotics," says Sekar. "Over the past five years, the company has grown significantly, and we are delighted to bring Rick on board to bring the company closer to achieving that goal. This new leadership structure will allow me more time to focus on developing our next product, which I find quite exciting."

Chowbotics was recently selected as one of "The World's Most Innovative Companies in Robotics" by Fast Company, joining a prestigious list of companies "making the most profound impact on both industry and culture." The National Restaurant Association's Kitchen Innovation Awards, BIG Innovation Awards, Edison Awards and Best in Biz Awards recently recognized Chowbotics for its impact on the foodservice industry.
