LAS VEGAS -- The Consumer Electronics Show opens on Jan. 6 in Las Vegas. It's run by the newly named Consumer Technology Association, formerly the Consumer Electronics Association. CES has been the global stage where consumer technology innovations are introduced to the marketplace for the past 50 years. The event runs until Jan. 9 at three "tech" locations throughout the city.

This year, USA Technologies senior vice-president of marketing Maeve McKenna-Duska will be a speaker at the upcoming Digital Money Forum. She will be a part of the "Cashless Payments at Retail" panel on Friday, Jan. 8, from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., in the Venetian (level 4, Marcello 4404).

The Digital Money Forum, new to CES, brings together payments and technology leaders, creating a forum on the leading payments technologies. The conference will explore the disruption of the traditional cash-based payment systems and address the need of a global economy intent on buying, selling and paying anywhere, anytime and on any device. It will include a debate on cashless payment systems, virtual currencies and the demise of paper currency.
