SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Judson-Atkinson Candies Inc., a manufacturer of panned candy sold in bulk vending machines, announced that Dr. Basil E. Atkinson will step down as president become an advisor to the company.

Atkinson's daughter, Amy Atkinson Voltz, will succeed her father as president. Her sister, Rinda Miller, has been promoted to executive vice-president, in charge of the company's safety and human resources departments.

Basil Atkinson purchased San Antonio-based Judson Candy Co. in 1983 and renamed it Judson-Atkinson Candies. He will be inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame this fall in Tampa, FL.

Since joining the company in 1984, Amy has worked in a variety of roles in the commodities, purchasing and freight departments. In her new role, she will oversee production and commodities and become more involved in product development. Rinda is a 15-year veteran of the company.

Additionally, Melissa Hudson is now vice-president of the bulk candy company. She has been with the company for the past 18 years and was previously responsible for purchasing. Hudson will continue to manage packaging design development in her new role.

Founded in 1899, family-owned Judson-Atkinson Candies Inc. manufactures a wide variety of bulk panned and starch-molded non-chocolate candy, including soft-and-chewy fruit-flavored sours and rebagged items.
