CHICAGO -- New from Bellis Technology is a banknote-recycling bill validator for vending. Called the NV11, it combines Bellis's well-known NV9 note acceptor with a recycler that holds small banknotes and pays them back in change.

The Bellis NV11 can store as many as 30 bills of one denomination for use in making change. It can be programmed to recycle any single denomination; depending on the average vend price, $1 or $5 are reasonable choices.

"If an item costs $5 and the customer pays with a $20 bill, the recycler can dispense three $5 bills for change," said branch manager Mike Warhurst. "Getting bills for change is more convenient for the customer who doesn't want to be carrying a pocket full of coins. It is also more cost efficient for the vending machine, as it recycles the bills it has already accepted."

Bellis noted that the NV11 cash recycler optimizes cash management. Customers have the option of paying with higher-value bills such as $20s, which are most commonly in their wallets. And they leave happier after receiving change in the more convenient form of small bills, and just a few coins if necessary.

The NV11 is USB-compliant, and it features include a stacker with 300-note capacity. It accepts the currencies of more than 100 countries around the world; the company reports that its acceptance rate is 99.8%.

Other payment systems available from Bellis Technology for the vending, amusement, and gaming industry include the BV20, BV50, BV100, NV9, NV10, NV200, Smart Payout and Smart Hopper.

Bellis Technology Inc. is the U.S. branch of Innovative Technology Ltd. (Oldham, England). It has managed U.S. sales and service from its Minooka, IL, headquarters since 1999.
